“Quicksilver” Callie Hart

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Wow, this book really brought it. Quicksilver kicks the door open, sets your sheets on fire, and leaves your heartbeat in shambles.

Easily sliding into my top three reads of 2025, this book is an electrifying blend of dark fantasy, slow-burning tension, and carnal heat. Callie Hart writes epic worlds and builds deep obsessions; and I fell headlong into this one without looking back.

The fantasy elements are so seamlessly crafted that they never feel like exposition. Instead, the world unfurls around you, draped in atmosphere and danger, mysterious magic systems, and lore that hints at ancient pain and power without spoon-feeding you every answer. It’s elegant, sharp, and seductive all at once.

And then there’s Kingfisher. Yes, I laughed at the name at first too. But let me be crystal clear: this man could ruin lives and rebuild them in the same breath. He’s dangerous and magnetic, but somehow still manages to feel emotionally grounded. I’m now a card-carrying member of the Kingfisher cult. No regrets.

The chemistry between the characters is blistering. Hart writes intimacy with a rawness that feels earned, not gratuitous. Every steamy moment is as much about power and vulnerability as it is about physical pleasure. It’s five-chili-pepper hot, but it never overshadows the story. Instead, it elevates it.

There’s also a satisfying emotional depth running beneath all the heat and fantasy intrigue. Grief, healing, identity, loyalty; and it all beats under the surface, giving this book more weight than many of its genre siblings. I never once felt like I was reading something hollow.

If I had one wish, it’s simply that I could read it again for the first time.

Callie Hart has crafted something that’s both devastatingly sexy and narratively compelling. Quicksilver is an experience, and I’m already desperate for more.

5 out of 5 stars. Unapologetically.

(And if you see me rereading Kingfisher’s scenes alone with a bottle of wine? Mind your business.)
