“The Drowned Girls” Loreth Anne White

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Drowned Girls by Loreth Anne White refuses to let you go, immersing you in its’ dark and intricate world. I picked up this book on impulse without even glancing at the synopsis, and I can confidently say it was a decision well-made.

This story delivers exactly what I’ve been seeking in a thriller. White crafts a gripping narrative that doesn’t shy away from the brutal, horrifying realities of a serial predator. The tension is relentless, and the psychological depth adds an extra layer of complexity to the chase. Detective Angie Pallorino is a compelling lead, balancing fierce ambition with her struggles against a past she’d rather forget.

The chemistry between Angie and her temporary partner, James Maddocks, is as intense as the plot itself. Their dynamic adds emotional and romantic tension to an already captivating story. While I wasn’t expecting the steamy moments to hit as hard as they did, they elevate the book without overshadowing the suspenseful narrative.

What truly sets this novel apart is its ability to seamlessly intertwine chilling crime scenes with heartfelt character exploration. It balances action, emotion, and plot development in spades.

If you’re in the market for a thriller that actually delivers on suspense, horror, and a touch of heat, The Drowned Girls is an excellent choice. I devoured the audiobook in record time and am already eager to dive into the next installment. This one is a must-read, but be warned… it’s not for the faint of heart.
